UPDATE: If you are looking for GAME ROMS on iPhone v2.0 or iPhone 3G go here

There have been many talks regarding how to upload nes, gba, snes and sega genesis roms onto your iPhone or iPod Touch. Here we will check out the entire procedure of uploading roms to your iPhone or iTouch.

Getting started, you would require:

  • OpenSSH (Just another jargon, simply a software you need via Installer – Explained below)
  • iPhone Browser (See here)
  • Datacable to connect to your PC :)
  • Game Roms (Find here)
  • Game Emulator (for NES, GBA etc) Get it via source: ‘zodttd.com/repo’ in Installer

Via Installer first Install BossPrefs (source BigBoss: thebigboss.org/repo.xml) and Enable SSH from BossPrefs. Now connect your iPhone / iPod to the PC using the Datacable. Now run iPhone-Browser. iPhonebrowser directly opens the Media folder which holds the ‘ROMs’ folder making the work easier. In case you don’t find the ‘ROMs’ folder create one (Cap sensitive).Placing the Roms:

Placing the roms in the correct folder is crucial:

NES ROMS IPHONE USING IPHONEBROWSER

- For Example if you are loading nes roms (.nes roms), place all roms in a folder named ‘NES’ (Cap sensitive). Then create another folder named ROMs (Cap sensitive) and place ‘NES’ inside it.

- Same goes for GBA, SNES, SEGA GENESIS, etc…

For NES we use the roms with the filename ending with [J]

INCASE IPHONEBROWSER DOSENT WORK YOU CAN USE FTP TO UPLOAD. Read Here

Guide for Windows. Works with all iPhone versions till 1.1.4.

There are many ways of doing this, some of the procedures dating back to 2007 uses FTP clients. But we would recommend using the luxury of BossPrefs and iPhoneBrowser.

Modding your iPhone can be dangerous if not executed correctly and maycause problems including bricking your iPhone. We do not take any guarantees for the procedure above.

In iPhone 2.0 version the path for NES roms is: private/var/mobile/media/ROMs/NES. And it works fine :)

You have to simply drag and drop? Isn’t that happening?

Try doing it after shutting down all iTunes process if there is any trouble.

yeah it won’t let you drag and drop with itunes open. closed it and that solved the problem.
