Apple has reportedly sold over 3 million (30 lac) iPhone 3G handsets worldwide since launch. The sales has been more than expected, and it is speculated that Apple has placed orders for sourcing additional Memory chips from its suppliers.
The hype created by the first gen iPhone (which didn’t make it to most countries outside the US) has contributed to the demand for the new iPhone 3G. The new iPhone firmware 2.0 and the Appstore makes the package even more exciting.
Also expected to add to the sales is the additional launch in 20 more countries (inclusing India) on 22nd August. The total no of countries with iPhone 3G on saled by end of the year would be 70!
