Apple iPhone 3G outsells 1st Gen iPhone 2G in Just 7 Weeks

Posted by Ankur on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, 23:28

In just under two months the iPhone 3G (which currently sells in 43 countries) has managed to outsell its own predeseccor the iPhone 2G. Apparently the iPhone 3G by this weekend would have sold around 6 million pcs; beating the sales number of the 1st Gen iPhone which was on sale for a whole Year!

The growth in sales is however due to the reduced price tag (in US) and worldwide release. With reports of Apple increasing iPhone 3G production to 8lac pcs per week (8,00,000); they are probably all set to achieve sales of 40 million+ iPhone 3G’s next year.
