Nokia started to pre-register then N96 to counter the iPhone 3G. And here is the official pricing RS 34999 compared to the 31k and 36k of the iPhone 3G! The launch date is September 15th.
The handset features a 16GB internal memory which is expandable to 24GB along with a 5MP camera. Add to that a security app (mobile tracker kinda) and preloaded goodies (Audio / Video). So is the N96 capable of countering the iPhone 3G?
Again, YES and NO. For those who can’t give up the Nokia addiction or handle the Touch screen; N96 is the best option. Also looking at the iPhone drawbacks (sms issue, no flash, no video recording etc) the N96 is better featured.
But then the charm of the iPhone is what still remains its strong selling point (atleast in India). Time will tell who wins the battle of the titans (Mega expensive handsets).

I find it interesting what you say about the charm being a top selling point of the iPhone. How much of this is down to clever marketing by Apple? They certainly know how to pre sell and make gadgets look great. The touch screen is a real plus on the iPhone, but Nokia have generally made good robust phones and I think the N96 will give Apple a run for their money
Yes Iphone is a lot about hype .. But its some substance with Hype … isn’t it?
I am sure N96 would do well, but cant compare a touchscreen and a regular one…
