EU laws might requie Apple to make batteries removable

iPods and iPhones are know for their inbuilt battery, that is non removable. Installing / replacing a battery is a speacialist task and done at service centers only. But new EU laws that are is place to check the toxic content from these batteries when discarded, pose a threat to Apple’s design. Even the popular Macbook AIR has a non removable battery.

The new law largely focuses on shifting more of the responsibility for battery recycling onto manufacturers of electronics, in an effort to prevent batteries and their toxic contents from ending up in landfills … another of the law’s provisions — Article 11 — requires that devices’ batteries can be “readily removed”.

Though being environment friendly Apple already offers free recycling for its iPod and iPhone products.
