The popularity of iPhone 3G is touching new heights each day. As per reports iPhone now commands 1.1% of global mobile sales. This has risen three fold from 0.3% in 2007. Apple has sold over 13million iPhone 3G’s in 2008 and till date 17 million iPhones has been sold worldwide. Apple also has a significant share in the smartphone market. That was around 17% sometime back.

While this is still far less than Nokia and Motorola who command 38.6% and 8.3% market share globally, the figures are still encouraging considering that Apple has only 1 iPhone model on sale at the moment. With new models expected this year; it would be exciting to see how things develop.
