Google Latitude is due to be released for Android, iPhone, Windows Mobile and many other mobile devices. The service allows you to see where your friends are in real time.

“What Google Latitude does is allow you to share that location with friends and family members, and likewise be able to see friends and family members’ locations,” Steve Lee, product manager for Google Latitude, told CNET. “For example, a girlfriend could use it to see if her boyfriend has arrived at a restaurant and, if not, how far away he is.”

Supported devices for Google Latitude

Google Latitude is available on the following mobile devices wherever Google Maps for mobile v3.0 and above is supported:

- Android-powered devices with Maps v3.0 and above. G1 users in the US will be receiving Maps v3.0 in a system update soon.
- Most color BlackBerry devices
- Most Windows Mobile 5.0 and above devices. Note: Some Windows Mobile devices don’t support cell-ID location detection.
- Most Symbian S60 devices

Coming soon!
- iPhone and iPod touch devices with the Google Mobile App (in the US)
- Many Sony Ericsson devices
