The rumors just don’t end because we love to report them and you love to read about there.  So, here is another one for you.

AT&T is in talks with Apple to extend its contract of the ‘exclusive iPhone carrier’ till 2011. AT&T is already in contract with Apple over iPhone exclusivity till 2010. And during this period Apple cannot develop iPhone for other CDMA careers.

AT&T is the only US carrier that supports 3G using HSPA over a 850MHz band, as is used in iPhone. Switching to T-mobile USA would require adding the 17ooMHz band, while switching to Verizon or Sprint would require to rebuild the iPhone. Looks like AT&T’s exclusivity over iPhone in US will be maintained.

So if you don’t like AT&T and love the iPhone, you have no option (legally) but to bear with AT&T (atleast till 2011).
