New 3.0 beta firmware reveals more features on upcoming iPhone

The new firmware version 3.0 that is expected to be unveiled along with the new iPhone(s) in June / July is expected to bring loads of features and missing features to the iPhone platform. While our expectations for breakthrough technology from Apple is always ON, here are some more leaks from the beta v3 of the firmware v3.0 that is currently hands-on with the developers.

safari-30-windows

Safari will now allow you to close all open windows: In the current firmware version 2.x Safari allows you to close any open windows/tabs if you have more than one window open, but after you have closed all windows to reach the last one, there is no option to close it. To close the same you need to open another empty / blank window and then close it. However, the firmware v3.0 is expected to allow you to close even a single safari window.

Battery indicator goes get a numeric update: Your iPhone will now display the % of battery left. The same will be displayed in red colour if it falls below a certain level, thus indicating low battery. You may have the option to switchback to the old fashioned battery indicator aswell, not confirmed though…

push-notifications-option

Push Notifications preference: You would be allowed to select what notifications can 3rd party apps push to your handset viz. sounds, alerts or badges. You can switch any of these on or off, or switch off / onĀ push notifications option altogether.

data-detectors

Data detection in more apps: Apple is enabling detection of data like phone numbers, street address, email ids etc across many more apps now. The screenshot above shows the same working on the Notes app (while viewing, thankfully it doesn’t work when editing the note).
