Many cases where iPod’s have been reported to catch fire have been reported, this seems to be the first instance of a government forcing Apple to recall a product over battery concerns.

The Korean government has asked Apple to recall 1st Generation iPod Nano’s ‘following a series of reports of alleged battery explosion of the popular MP3 players’.

Apple has sold 155,000 iPod Nano’s in Korea between October 2005 to December 2006. The company has agreed to replace batteries and shells for the iPods in question.
