iTunes 8.2.1 breaks Palm Pre Syncing | All on the iPhone, iPod touch & iPad

itunes update

Apple Vs Palm is something that was a war or words for long. However it seems like Palm stepped to close to Apple with the iTunes syncing on the Palm Pre. Identifying itself as a iPod, Palm Pre actually allowed iTunes users to sync their DRM free music easily. But with iTunes 8.2.1, Apple has done what many had expected and something that I personally felt they won’t do. If you are a Pre user using iTunes to sync your music, avoid updating to the latest iTunes version 8.2.1!

Apple had hinted sometime back about non Apple devices not syncing with iTunes with future updates and this was seen as a direct aim at Palm Pre. And here we see now, the iTunes love for Pre is over :(

Palm Pre does allow USB mass storage for users to simply copy paste music files and other data, but iTunes was a good tool…

Like Google using a so called free OS in an anti-competitive move to generate ad revenue for it’s unrelated search business, Apple uses iTunes to dominate the phone and mp3 markets. Can you imagine the uproar if Microsoft did this?

Apple monopolizes markets and uses illegal, anti-competitive tactics to maintain dominance. FTC – are you listening? Unless you have an iPod or an iPhone, guess not. Since I don’t want Apple suing me too…
