flychat

The strangest iPhone / iPod Touch social networking application is out for sale on AppStore. flyChat, as it is called, is a chat application that sends your messages randomly to any iPhone running the same application.

Leaving the traditional social networking far behind, the concept looks quite interesting. The user attaches his message to a fly tosses it in the big network of iPhone users. The chat application uses tags, themes and chance counters to send the message to iPhone users who may or may not match a similar interest.

The idea to make lots of friends is to create lots of messages and toss them. The message can buzz any iPhone user at any time. The application also involves a reward system in which the user earns badges for making more friends.

The user defines the theme of his interest to send/recieve messages to/from people of similar interest or themes. One can also add tags to his message to easily identify the interest group. Three colors of flies take the message to three kinds of people in one’s social group. The red fly is for friends which sends the message to a specific friend. Yellow flys take the message to everyone in the contact group. The green ones are the world flies, which may take ones meaage to anyone in the world and create new friends. The message can also be sent through four networks – world, country, city, institution.

The application looks interesting and is probably going to be the first one i buy from AppStore as soon as i get my hands on my new iPhone. Available at AppStore for $1.99.
