Apple has announced its Q3 results and its another billion dollar in profits. Apple has managed to up its profits, margins and sales compared to last year and they certainly prove it again that they beat recession with ‘innovative products’.

iPhone sales during Q3 was at 5.2million units (this certainly got a good push with the 3GS launch) while iPod sales declined 7% to 10.2 million units. Decline in iPod sales is something Apple is comfortable with as they look to move from the traditional iPod’s to the iPod Touch and the iPhone platform (no they aren’t discontinuing the iPods …). Mac sales were impressive at 2.6 units, certainly the result of the recent price cut.

The iPhone 3GS is all set to hit a lot more countries in the coming weeks (August 9) and Apple is already facing a tough time meeting the demand. We can be certain of a very strong Q4 as well.

“We’re making our most innovative products ever and our customers are
responding,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We’re thrilled to have sold over 5.2 million iPhones during the quarter and users have downloaded more than 1.5 billion applications from our App Store in its first year.”

“We’re extremely pleased to report record non-holiday quarter revenue and earnings and quarterly cash flow from operations of $2.3 billion,” said Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s CFO. “Looking ahead to the fourth fiscal quarter of 2009, we expect revenue in the range of about $8.7 billion to $8.9 billion and we expect diluted earnings per share in the range of about $1.18 to $1.23.”
