MOTOROKR S9-HD stereo bluetooth headset for iPhone: User Review

God bless Apple for bringing A2DP feature on OS3.0 for 3G and 3GS(poor 2G owners can’t use this feature), so I was on a look out for good stereo bluetooth headset for my 3G, coz now I want to be wirefree. Many of my wired headphones got screwed because headphones wire got damaged by folding them or keeping it in your pocket.

So first I tested my friends MOTOROKR S9(after upgrading to OS 3.0) which worked really good on my 3G. Headset functions exactly as published and had really exceeded my expectations.

I almost made up my freakin-mind to buy that, but somehow I came to know that Motorola has released the upgraded model of S9 called as MOTOROKR S9-HD, where HD stands for High-Definition, (After HD TVs, now we’ve to bear with HD audio :P), So I bought that.

Well, frankly speaking wireless music experience has been enhanced with MOTOROKR S9-HD. Freedom to exercise, move around and commute without wires to tangle or hold you back, is now enhanced with high-definition audio and ear buds that reduce background noise and improve comfort, which I didn’t feel in the earlier model.

moto ad2p2You can choose between two SRS WOW HD settings: 1) Fuller sound with more clarity, or 2) balanced audio with enhanced bass. You can change the setting of SRS WOW HD audio enhancement feature on your headphones by pressing >>| button until you hear a tone. I didn’t find a problem with pairing it with my iPhone, (all I need to is to goto Settings>General>Bluetooth>ON, after that it showed Motrola S9-HD under Devices, I just tapped on it and after that it automatically got paired). The sound quality is awesome, the beats that come are soothing even when you play at full volume (though I wont recommend you to screw your ear-drums at full volume).

I made calls without any problem, while making a call, iPhone will prompt you whether you want to use Motorola S9-HD, iPhone (means internal speakers) or Speaker(Loudspeaker), which I think is great. You can also control: accept calls, volume up/down and play/pause through headphone buttons, track changer control on headphone does not works with iPhone 🙁

I came across with 2 issues (which has nothing to do with S9-HD):

First is that you can’t change track directly from headphone and second is that when I make calls through skype and other similar voip clients on iPhone I cant hear any audio on headphones, it automatically switched to iPhone speakers, I think these apps are not compatible with bluetooth headsets, which is not good, these apps need an update to support bluetooth headsets.

Other thing I would recommend you before buying this that you first try to wear it and see if it fits properly on your ears or not because this headset is of fix size and it may not fit properly on everyone’s head (though it docked fine on my head) 🙂

The S9-HD (and S9 too) is/are the new benchmark of wireless music powered by Bluetooth wireless technology.
S9 HD is priced at $ 119.99, but if you search it on eBay, you will find really good deals.
