Into mobile reports that the iPhone firmware update 3.1 might go live on the 9th along with the music event. This update is expected to bring AR support officially with some Augmented Reality apps launching in the same week.
Apple would certainly like to use a big platform to announce this. Also interestingly iTunes 9 is expected to come out with some great social features. Probably iPhone OS 3.1 would bring some goodies specially for itunes 9 aswell.
What more adding to the rumors is the speculation that AT&T is ready to offer MMS for the iPhone and this might also go live with OS 3.1 and get official at the Spt 9th Rock n Roll event.

…well, I really hope that GPS firmware problems will be fixed, because many friends with navigators like TomTom or outdoor sport GPS like EasyTrails have problems to connect to satellites at least 1 of 10 times… (I’m lucky, my TomTom is connected in 20sec, EasyTrails too, all GPS-enabled apps have the same behaviour, related to GPS data!)
3.1 is 3GS centric not much for 3G users !!!
1. iPhone 3GS – When you’re trimming your videos you now have the option of saving the original video by tapping the “Save as copy” button.
2. Voice Control is finally working over bluetooth now!
3. When you move your icons around the iPhone vibrates
4. MMS is enabled by default but does not work for AT&T users
5. The AT&T profile is updated to 4.2
6. Improvements to OpenGL and Quartz
7. There’s now a VideoEditorController API – Allows third party apps to
call up video editing UI
