Kirikae – Allows launch / switch of app directly from other applications (Cydia)

kirikae iphone1

Kirkae is a cool app via Cydia. It allows you to switch or launch apps directly from any application without going back to springboard. It allows a pop-up as soon as you double-tap the home button and then you can choose the app you won’t to switch / launch to OR quit.

The nicest part is that the app is compatible with Backgrounder, so as soon as you switch to another app or launch another app, it automatically puts the other running app in background mode if you have backgrounder installed.

The app is quite superb at what it does there are a few issues that need to be sorted out. The app only allows you to launch applications which are already running in the background OR the last application you had launched. So there are only a few apps that you can actually choose from. Also, it sets up your double tap function which might not appeal to some users who like their ipod app.

Note that the app does no features and settings except the animated switching. As soon as you install the app and open it once it starts to function and automatically sets the double-tap function for launching the pop-up.

How to  use the app:
To switch to another running application:

  • Double-tap home button to display kirikae
  • Tap the application that you wish to switch to
  • If you have backgrounder installed, the current app will be backgrounded, otherwise it will quit
  • The selected application will then become active

To quit an Active/ Backgrounded Application

  • Double-tap the home button to display Kirikae
  • Swipe the application that you wish to quit
  • Tap the quit button that appears

On the whole, its a nice app with a nice user-interface and works smoothly. To download the app search for ‘kirikae’ on Cydia. Its available via the BigBoss Repository.
UPDATE: Looks like the developer was listening to us..There is an update to the app which brings favourites to the app. You can add your favourite applications to the list and then open them right from the app with a double-tap.
