Now you can unlock the iPhone 3G 3.1 & Jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.1

Note that this release is for iPhone 3G, 2G and iPod touch 1st Gen. This wont work on iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 2G and 3G.

The iPhone Dev team now has a solution for you to upgrade to the latest firmware version 3.1. To use the iTunes 9 fully with Genius for apps, App management tool etc you need to upgrade the iPhone or iPod touch to the latest firmware 3.1.

All you need to use is the Pawnage tool 3.1 to create a custom .ipsw. Now uploading this pwned firmware file shall jailbreak your iPod touch / iPhone 3G or 2G. iPhone 2G (1st generation)  shall be automatically be unlocked using this, for iPhone 3G you will need to use the upgraded version of ultrasn0w via cydia. Learn more about using / installing ultrasn0w.

Downloads you need to make:

Pwnage tool 3.1. Offical bittorrent release.

Firmware 3.1 for iPhone 2G or iPhone 3G or 3.1.1 for iPod touch 1G (whichever you need)

Please note that unlocking / jailbreaking your iPhone / iPod can void warranty and or cause permanent damage. Go ahead with caution and do let us know in comments below how it worked for you. :)

    I DOWNLOADED THE Pwnage tool 3.1. Offical bittorrent release FROM THE LINK AND IT COMES UP AS A FILE AND WHEN I CLICK ON IT TO OPEN IT AND IT ASKES ME WHAT DO I WANT TO OPEN THE FILE WITH??????

    Devin, its a bittorrent file. you need to use a program that can download bitorrents such as Utorrent to download the Pwnage tool

    Hi please send me a step by step guide to jailbreak my iphone 3G on the 3.1 firmware pleaseeeeeeeeee! With the links and all that. And please explain the bittorent thing how does that work? BC when i tried downloading redsnow it also appeared as a file asking what do i wanna open the file with. I dont quite understand, HEEEEEEEEEEELP THNXS GUYS 4 D WEBSITE

    Um how about the iPhone 3GS man why is the jailbreak community making 3GS owners feel like they picked the wrong choice for paying a bit more

    Ok i have spent my whole day yesterday trying to jailbreak my iphone 3g on a windows computer using redsn0w and on my mac using both redsnow and pwnage tool… I kept getting tons and tons of errors and even after overcoming the errors it almost seems like the phone is jailbroken but i have the sign on my phone which requires me to enter a valid sim card and connect to itunes…
    I have tried a dozen time to do it over but no luck…
    Any help? PLease?

    Just connect your ipod touch 3g with cable and start blackra1n

    then your ipod will reboot and then open blackra1n from ipod screen connect to the internet and choose the 3 software in blackra1n and download it ( Cydia, Rock and Icy) then open cydia

    all done

    any one can help me in unlocking my iphone 3g 3.0 with modemfirmware 05.11.07.it has been got locked on 17th sept 09 when i restored it .from 3.1 to 3.0 downgraded but the the modemfirmware gone to 05.11.07.this could not be downgraded.i have tried fuzzy band.this phone is jail broken but could not be unlocked.please solve my problem/ thanyou.
