Recent leaked images of the upcoming upgrade to the Android OS (version 2.0) has pumped up the comparison between the iPhone and Android devices. Different manufacturers have tried their hands on Android and the custom Sense UI by HTC and MotoBlur by Motorola have managed to create atleast some buzz. Conversations around my twitter friends already seem to hint that there is a good enough following for Android and people are betting really high on it.

An open source platform will force app developers to stay on their “A” game by creating a higher standard of quality in their product and more reasonable price points, in order to stay competitive with free homebrew apps, instead of the typical fascist/corporatist model of Sony and Apple, constantly trying to make everything proprietary and branded with their name.
