So after we heard a few murmurs ourselves, AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega actually hinted pretty clearly to analysts over a conference call that the iPhone would no longer be exclusive in the coming days. To quote the exact words …

“legacy of having a great portfolio…that will continue after the iPhone is no longer exclusive to us,”  / “even if we lose exclusivity”

ATT has handled more iPhones on a single network than anywhere around the world. Being a record breaker and highly internet friendly device, this brought a lot of pressure on the ATT network. AT&T has invested over $30 billion in expanding its network capacity and reach. What prompted them to speedup the network upgradation to quite an extent was the iPhone effect.
