iPhone 3GS versus the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Sony Ericsson stunned the world with its latest offering the Xperia X10 that was being rumored since long as project Rachael / or the X3. This time Sony Ericsson has designed the device completely by itself, rather than depending on any ODM like HTC (who made the Xperia X1 for them). And looking at the spec sheet, you sure have a pretty impressive lineup here. A 4.0″ screen coupled with a sleek design which still manages to constraint the weight to 135gms (same as the iPhone 3GS) is applaud-able.

X10 runs the Android version 1.6 and loads it with a custom Rachael UI, which also has a timescape feature similar to Motorola’s BLUR UI. Behind the display is a monster 1GHZ processor that outdoes the iPhone’s 600Mhz by some margin. Wrt media, the Xperia X10 has a 8MP camera powered with a LED flash and the screen resolution of 854×480 can give you unmatched internet experience. If Sony Ericsson can get this working well this would be another one after the HTC HD2 to compete hard in the large display smartphone space, however I fear the lack of multi touch and great apps won’t really make this an iPhone killer for everyone, though a good one from SE!

And I really really hope that Sony Ericsson manages to subsidize this well with carrier contracts and doesn’t end up over pricing this. The large display, 8MP camera and first Android from SE title is enough reason for them to price it at a premium :P

One MAIN strong point to X10 – Multitasking, app- it’s just a question of time. also it’s possible to update to eclair 2.0 and it have multitouch!

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 features an interactive panel interface that lets you customize the smartphone to your wants and needs. The Windows Mobile device also has an attractive design and a full QWERTY keyboard.
