The earnings season is here and eBay is all positive on the mobile platform. The new found love in the silicon valley is surely the mobile platform. Every one from Google to Pizza hut wants to sell their products on mobile, more than ever before and eBay sure isn’t behind. According to TechCrunch eBay estimates its sales via Mobile to be worth $500 million this year.
The official ebay App has already witnessed 5 million downloads. The app comes in 5 languages and is available in 77 countries. To compliment the same eBay has pushed out another app on the App store called ‘Deals’ (iTunes Link for US store). This would bring some of the best bargains from the worlds biggest marketplace to iPhone / iPod touch users. No points for guessing the app is certainly free.
In eBay parlance, a deal can be one of two things:
- An eBay Daily Deal, which is a limited quantity item from a trusted seller, provided with free shipping
- An item that is in big demand (an iPhone, for example) with zero bids and with less than four hours to go in the auction
