Flash Demo For The iPhone

iPhone users who are frustrated due to the lack of flash in iPhone’s browser are in for a nice surprise. An open source project called Gordon, is a Flash™ runtime written in pure JavaScript that can be used by iPhone’s own Safari.

Erica Sadun of “TUAW” claimed to have tested out the project and stated the following:

“I gave it a try earlier today and was delighted to find that several Flash demos ran fine on my 3GS, no jailbreaking or other installation necessary.”

The project is still at its very early stages, as only the demos which are provided by the project currently display. Flash developers are required to include the SWF into an HTML wrapper, thus importing the Gordon JavaScript source and then load the SWF. A code snippet describing the process can be viewed here.

Therefore, If Apple decides not to bring us Flash support on iPhone 4.0 (which Adobe is pushing hard), then hopefully this project will come into effect, embracing us with the most awaited feature for the iPhone.
