Shortly after Apple outed the new firmware version 3.1.3, the dev team has several updates that makes life a little easier for us. While the previous redsn0w v0.9.2 works for iPhone 2G (jailbreak+unlock), iPhone 3G (jailbreak only) & iPod touch 1G (jailbreak); a slightly modified version that is now available for download works for older iPod touch 2G (newer iPod touch 2G/3G come with a updates bootrom refereed as MC).

For the ones with iPhone 2G / 3G / iTouch 1G, simply use the same old redsnow 0.9.2 and “Just point it at the 3.1.2 iPhone 2G IPSW after doing update or restore to 3.1.3.” Update: You can use redsn0w 0.9.4  (download) or sn0wbreeze aswell. However to unlock iPhone 3G you will first have to try your luck and see if you can downgrade the baseband version.

To unlock the 2G, see the Blackra1n guide here.

For 3G look for ‘Blacksn0w RC2′ on Cydia (will work only if you were able to downgrade the baseband)

Head to the iPhone dev blog to download the newer compilation of redsn0w for older iPod touch 2G.

To download the 3.1.2 IPSW for iPhone 2G or 3G head to our download page.

Usually jailbreak and unlock iphone 2G (3.0.1) using Redsnow 0.82 ver .
You might need firmware 3.0 as well , because redsnow will ask you to import 3.0 firmware version first only can jailbreak the iphone . =P hope that can help you guys.

WARNING: If you guys update to 3.1.3 you will NOT be able to downgrade (shift+restore). the only way is to do that is to wait for this the jailbreak for the 3.1.3 i have tryed everything and it’s not use. But don’t give up i have found a link that shows you have to bypass the “apple’s Signiture Sever” which WILL allow you to downgrade via Itunes, Writen by Jay Freeman ( Creater of Cydia… i think):

Is there a way to jailbreak/downgrade firmware on a ipod touch version 3 running on 3.1.3?

its a 63gig

clockwork April 27, 2010 at 8:44 am

you can downgrade so you can but it is risky here are steps

find 3.1.2 saftware and download

make a back up

go and shift click the restore and find the 3.1.2 software

if you get lucky it works i just want cydia they are working on it for non-jailbreaks two i found a way to get the jailbreak apps for non except like ifile and uuid faker i mean game apps it is hard though

try using the new Spirit Jailbreak

Vikraant June 19, 2010 at 10:07 pm

p.s. it was made recently and works for 3.1.3 and the new itouch/iphones
hope this helps

Alex June 20, 2010 at 2:38 am

Yes there is a way but it compilcated.
I have a link that explains what apple did to block the 3.1.3
downgrade and what to do to downgrade it to anything lower. I have a 3ed gen 32gb itouch, it worked for me and it should work for all itouch and Iphone.
Here is the link: http://www.saurik.com/id/12

i accidently updated to the version 3.1.3. the phone was blocked and i could only make emergency calls. i was able jailbreak it with redsn0w 0.9.4 though. now it works perfectly except that it gives me a no network signal when i insert my sim card. I live in morocco, so obviously i dont use AT&T. can someone help. would be soo grateful.
