Shortly after Apple outed the new firmware version 3.1.3, the dev team has several updates that makes life a little easier for us. While the previous redsn0w v0.9.2 works for iPhone 2G (jailbreak+unlock), iPhone 3G (jailbreak only) & iPod touch 1G (jailbreak); a slightly modified version that is now available for download works for older iPod touch 2G (newer iPod touch 2G/3G come with a updates bootrom refereed as MC).

For the ones with iPhone 2G / 3G / iTouch 1G, simply use the same old redsnow 0.9.2 and “Just point it at the 3.1.2 iPhone 2G IPSW after doing update or restore to 3.1.3.”

Head to the iPhone dev blog to download the newer compilation of redsn0w for older iPod touch 2G.

I have 2G on 3.0.1 jailbreak and unlocked. Any links to step by step to upgrade and re-break/unlock on windows vista? Any help would be appreciated

Usually jailbreak and unlock iphone 2G (3.0.1) using Redsnow 0.82 ver .
You might need firmware 3.0 as well , because redsnow will ask you to import 3.0 firmware version first only can jailbreak the iphone . =P hope that can help you guys.

WARNING: If you guys update to 3.1.3 you will NOT be able to downgrade (shift+restore). the only way is to do that is to wait for this the jailbreak for the 3.1.3 i have tryed everything and it’s not use. But don’t give up i have found a link that shows you have to bypass the “apple’s Signiture Sever” which WILL allow you to downgrade via Itunes, Writen by Jay Freeman ( Creater of Cydia… i think):
