120,000 iPads pre-ordered on Day 1, 69% WiFi

Apple is all set to go live with the iPad sales on 3rd April and the pre-orders have already began last week. It is rumored that the on Day 1 i.e. Friday, Apple received pre-orders for 120,000 iPads. This certainly gives an idea of what to expect on 3rd April (long lines outside Apple Store!) 69% of these are said to be the WiFi models and rest 31% are 3G modes that would launch in April – end. While WiFi models lead here, this might well change when the 3G model’s shipping date is announced.

The iPad comes in three different memory sizes and each one of them 16GB, 32GB and 64GB have attracted similar number of pre-orders as it seems. Manufacturing 6 different versions of the iPad (Wifi / 3G – 16GB, 32GB, 64GB) is surely a challenge for Apple, specially without a proper estimate of demand. Rumors have been wild and iPad 2010 sales are predicted at over a million by many. We await the global launch, hoping to get our hands on this one soon!  Have you pre-ordered the iPad?
