iPhone 3GS official pricing in India

Finally the Apple iPhone goes official in India and the same old operators Airtel and Vodafone are launching it again. As we hear here are the pricing by Vodafone is:

1) Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh (12.5% VAT)

  • 3GS 16GB – Rs 40500
  • 3GS 32GB  - Rs 47500

2) Rest of India (4% VAT)

  • 3GS 16GB – Rs 35500
  • 3GS 32GB – Rs 41500.

Yes you are paying as much as Rs 47500 (thats over USD 1000)  to buy an iPhone 3GS in India!

iPhones sold in Belgium, Italy, Czech Republic and HongKong are all unlocked == SIMlock-free by law.
Since in Germany and Austria you can only get iPhones with SIMlock, I bought mine in the AppleStore Italia.
