2 new iPhones (and new iPod touch) data revealed in iPad OS

Its been some time since hackers have been chasing the upcoming iPhone releases via software references in the SDK’s and OSes. And now that the iPad has gone on sale, the final built of the OS 3.2 is what is being ripped apart for all possible clues. Apparently there is a lot of meat inside the iPad OS that gives hints of upcoming iPhone 4G and iPod touch 4G.

Apple’s internal codes or even the firmware files refer to the iPhone 1st gen as 1,1 and 3G as 1,2. The 3GS was discovered as 2,1 indicating a major hardware refresh. And here is what we have now about the 2010 / 2011? releases:

  • iPhone 3,2
  • iPhone 3,3
  • iPod touch (iPod 4,1)
  • iProd 2,1

We can smell a major hardware refresh (3,2 and 3,3 – compared to 2,1 for the 3GS) for theĀ  iPhone with 2 new versions on offer. May be a CDMA version for Verizon and the regular AT&T stuff continuing? Or something completely different? The competition is heating and would be really interesting to see what Steve Jobs pulls out of his hat in June.

The iPod touch 4G is expected with a camera (long due!). Considering that it is killing the regular iPod’s some thing like FM can also come in easily. Ditto for the next iPad – a camera please?
