Adobe finally drops out of the iPhone race

Apple has been adamant about its stand against the Adobe Flash on mobile devices and has been denied an official entry to the jesus phone since long. After months and years of speculation of Flash making it to the iPhone officially, it became pretty clear with the iPad launch and the iPhone OS 4.0 that Apple has moved on and is pushing HTML5 very hard.
Given the fact that Flash cant run on the iPhone officially, Adobe had managed a workaround by allowing developers to convert their Flash games / apps to iPhone compatible format with its upcoming tool CS5.  This would have saved developers effort of writing the entire app again in iPhone supported form. However Apple hammered the final nail on the coffin with its updated developers terms that comes out with iPhone OS 4, restricting the use of such hacks to port apps for the iPhone. Apple’s concern comes from the degraded quality / performance of such apps, however the same received a lot of criticism from Adobe supporters.
After hitting its head against a wall, Adobe had finally decided to ditch the Apple mobile platform completely. According to a post by Mike Chambers (principal product manager, Flash developer relations) Adobe won’t invest anymore in developing its technologies to support porting of Flash content to the iPhone OS.

“We will still be shipping the ability to target the iPhone and iPad in Flash CS5. However, we are not currently planning any additional investments in that feature,”
