The iPad could do so much more, if only Apple lets open the tight grip it has over the OS compatibility. We have seen dozens of hacks for the iPhone and iPod touch with 3rd party apps coming via Cydia and here is something very interesting for the iPad. Apparently Apple provides a camera connection kit as an optional accessory for the iPad. This allows you to transfer pictures from a SD card to the iPad or connect your digital camera to the iPad.
However this won’t allow you to connect any flash drive or portable hard drive to the iPad. That is where the Spirit Jailbreak and a complicated hack comes in to the scene. This hack by Maxwell Shay more than just a Jailbroken iPad as you will also need a split-USB cable, a terminal to trick the iPad into mounting the external storage device and a lot of time and effort to make it possible. However it is not a impossible task and if Apple takes this up seriously and will be a huge relief and a very amazing features for most of its users.
