It was a little surprise with the iPhone 3GS launch last year that Apple didn’t discontinue the iPhone 3G. Instead the good old 8GB iPhone 3G (originally unveiled in 2008) saw a hefty price drop to $99. And now as we stand roughly 2 weeks away from the launch of iPhone 4th gen that will come in with multitasking and in all probability video chat aswell, the iPhone 3G is said to be on its way out.
According to the rumor, Apple has stopped shipping the iPhone 3G to AT&T stores and it should run out of stock anytime. If we note, its Apples old habit to stock out older models just before a new launch, but very interestingly here we have speculations of the iPhone 3GS getting a price drop to $99 and continuing strongly alongside the iPhone 4G / HD.
