Well, for Steve Jobs a solar-powered iPhone would really be a very amazing device and there is no doubt about him making it a huge success. Although, we have already seen patents pointing towards this technology, this one is a bit different. The new patent shows that the photocells will be placed inside the device.
The patent explains that it will integrate the touch sensors and the solar cells layers into the same stack-up and the surface area on the portable device may be conserved. So, will we see this at the WWDC 2010? I don’t think so, this may need some time but you may very soon see the upcoming Apple products with energy storing solar panels built right into the brilliant touchscreen.
