iPhone 4: Apple's earlier iPhone versions are flooding the markets

The huge popularity of Apple iPhone 4 and fans anxiously going in for an upgrade without a thought has led to an accumulation of older models of iPhone. The prices of these models have gone down tremendously. The new iPhone 4 buyers who were once happy customers of the older versions have given away their phones to online retailers for resale. The online retailers like Gazelle.com, eBay and others have reported a big peak in their listings of older iPhone versions. The iPhone 3GS 32GB, which was sold at $300 before the launch of iPhone4 is now available for $168, that too for a perfect condition device.

The new iPhone 4, unlocked, is selling at a whopping $942. We see a rise in Apple’s customer base as the ones who were using the earlier versions are selling it to pay for their new iPhone4. Apple is anyway happy with the things going on. But the major concern here is, what if people do not buy these used phones? Here came environmentalists, who claim that this may create a surge in electronic wastes. Recycling is an option but Apple provides this option only to those who do not demand even a penny for their older dearies. Now comes the question of resale value! What’s your say in this regard?
