iPod touch 4G Rumor: camera and video calling (FaceTime)

We have had more than a few rumors about an iPod touch with camera. While the 3rd generation iPodtouch last year didn’t bring us any camera, it seems that Apple is gearing up for a camera iPod touch in September i.e. the annual refresh time for iPods. The Vietnam site that leaked iPhone4 have already shown a video of iPod touch 4G with camera in action, and fresh rumors suggest the same.

A great new video calling feature that Apple is promoting is called FaceTime (video calling over WiFi) and it is determined to make it an open standard for all video calling on mobile devices. However to begin with the consumers are restricted to iPhone 4 only. It is rumored that Apple is bringing a camera and Face Time technology to the iPod touch thus increasing the number of users with this ability. Guess this would speed up the adoption of Facetime … but significant enough boost?

Amongst other expectations from the new iPod touch is a Retina display (960×640 resolution), Apple A4 processor and Wifi ‘n’.

I just got the new iPod Touch 4G and it is really a video playerwith thinner design including two cameras for FaceTime and HD video recording, Retina display from iPhone 4, Apple A4 chip.
But there still a limitation of its playable video formats. iPod Touch 4G can additionally play video with formats of MPEG-4 (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC) and QuickTime video formats. This is a headache issue because various video downloaded from web or Blu-ray/DVD video can not be played in this iPod Touch 4G. Via google, I found a program named Aunsoft iMedia Converter for Mac is an ideal assistant for iPod Touch 4G. This software can efficiently transcode almost all formats of video to iPod Touch 4G video formats.
