You’ve jailbroken iPhone and now incase if your WIFI is not working or you are not in a WIFI hotspot, then you must be wondering if you can unlock it or not. Yes you can unlock (till iPhone iOS 4.0.1) without WIFI.There’s yet another simple method to do so, without WiFi, using Cyder II.
Note: Post Updated and this method works 100%
Cyder II is a Cydia package manager which lets you connect to your  iPhone 3G/3GS and download, install and backup packages and sources using your computer. Sadly, it’s a Windows only app so you can’t follow this guide on a Mac. This guide assumes that you’ve already jailbroken your iPhone 3G or 3GS.
- Download Cyder II (from here)
- Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch Cyder II app.
- Add the following repositories in sources by right click anywhere in the field and clicking. Add.http://apt.saurik.com/cydia-3.7 and http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com
- Click the play button on the top left. This will download the list of packages from these repositories.
- Switch to the Packages tab and select http://apt.saurik.com/cydia-3.7 in the Source and System in Section. In the list of packages, find Mobile Substrate, right click it and select Download with dependencies.
- Similarly, select http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com in sources and do the same with ultrasn0w. Right click it and select download.
- Now switch to the downloads tab. Right click on each package and download it
- Similarly, select http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com in sources and do the same with ultrasn0w. Right click it and select download.
- Now switch to the downloads tab. Right click on each package and download it.
- Switch to the File Manager tab now. Drag and drop the packages from Cyder Cache to the Cydia Auto Install folder.
- Close Cyder.
- The packages will install when you restart your iPhone. You might have to restart the iPhone twice, as in my experience. After the second restart, your phone will find your carrier. Enjoy your unlocked iPhone

how did you get to the ‘system’ folder on phoneview? Its not showing up on mine.
Well doing thats gone and bricked my iphone 3g, wont go past the apple logo boot up now, so I can’t even restore it.

@adam You’ve to enable it, There is an option there on PhoneView to see system files…
@Ralph: If you place files in wrong place then obviously iPhone will stuck…
Now switch off the phone and by holding homebutton plug in the cable, & keep holding home until you see apple logo, Your phone will come in DFU mode and then u can restore it…
i used iphone browser as i am on windows and i am facing the same problem as ralph..its stuck on the apple logo…and it keeps restarting..it just restarted..and is on the apple logo…waiting……………………waiting……………………….waiting…………………waiting………………………….waiting….each waiting is 1 min long…lol…i dont know what to do…i put them in the right place…it keeps rebooting…please help…

i did every step and when i restart my iphone it searches for about 5 minutes then says no sim so i restart it again but all i get is no sim right away. i don’t what the problem is.

I recently came from US , i was thinking that my iphone was jail broken then i tried insert the SIM it did say that SIM Failure..then after hours of work i was able to jail broken up to cydia app. Then i was going no where i dont know withour wireless how would be completing that..then i found out your simple awesome article with neat explanation, with in 15 mins i have the jailbroken and SIM card identified iPHONE with me.

Jailbroken using redsn0w_win_0.9.5b5-5 but both phone and wifi did not work. Installed Cyder II and was surprised to activate the phone service but still wifi is not working. Is there bigger problem with the wifi?

btw, cydia should work anyways with the link : repo666.ultrasn0w.org (the o is a zero) the .com site looks to be down now, and that’s why I was stuck I couldn’t get ultrasn0w, but after 2 hours of searching I found out if .com is down u can use .org and it finally worked with ur sollution.
