iPhoneHelp Review: Apple iPhone 4 vs HTC Evo 4G

HTC has its latest Android to fight the iPhone. While Apple and HTC battle it out in the courts to settle the IP issues, the real battle is on the ground.

Android is buzzing and Steve Jobs has certainly tried his best with the iPhone 4 to take a lead. But what does the iPhone is the fact that there would be many many more Android devices (and better than the Evo 4G) coming up before the iPhone4 gets a refresh in 2011. Can iOS 4 and iPhone 4 hold ground till then? Unlikely!

1. Design: The glossy iPhone 4 looks stunning with its glass covers. Apple has refined the thickness of iPhone and iPhone 4 is the sleekest of all smartphones known. Whereas the HTC Evo (4G available on Sprint) is a big device. The basic difference between iPhone4 and HTC Evo lies in the buttons available on the front and HTC relatively looks quite bigger when held in hands(It actually is!).

2. Display: iPhone 4 boasts a revolutionary(as Apple claims) Retina Display with a resolution of about 326 pixels per inch and has a 3.5 inch screen. HTC Evo comes with a big 4.3 inch screen with relatively lesser display resolution.

3. Multimedia: Apple’s device comes with a 5MP camera (which saw a big upgrade over earlier versions) compared to the 8MP on the EVO. I don’t think we need to mention anything about music qualities with the Apple. The new FaceTime app is something that will make this phone unique until others include this feature. HTC Evo comes with a 3.5mm jack just like the iPhone 4. iTunes adds its bit of magic to iPhone though.

4. Features: HTC Evo comes with an onscreen keyboard just like the iPhone 4. Though you can also get a Swype for Evo, its not preloaded I guess.

The iOS finally features multi tasking and promises a much better battery life. It features the gyro axis, which takes the gaming performance to an all new level! Apart from this, with iOS 4.0, there are more than 100 features added to iPhone. HTV Evo has been criticized for a poor battery and that kills its chances.

5. Memory: The iPhone 4 comes with a 16GB and a 32GB internal storage option while Evo comes with 1GB internal memory and can be expanded upto 32GB externally.

6. Pricing: iPhone 4 comes with two options- 16GB for $199 and 32GB for $299 along with AT&T’s contract and the unlocked version might cost you anywhere  between $800 to $900. HTC Evo 4G comes at $199 with the contract from Sprint only(as mentioned above, 4G is available only with Sprint as other carriers are still going with 3G).
