Apple says no to a 7" iPad, too small to express the software!

During the Q4 earnings call, Steve Jobs had a lot to speak about competition, product philosophy and it seems that he has taken this opportunity to shoot down some rumors aswell. Apple has sold as many as 4.2 millon iPads last quarter and thats some number. So how about the future alterations of the iPad? Well Steve jobs made it clear that there won’t be a 7″  (i.e. Smaller iPad) and he has a valid reason too. Given that smartphones are doing such high resolutions screens now (960×640) a tablet really has to justify its existence.

Here is what jobs says: “The reason we are not making a 7-inch tablet isn’t because we don’t want to hit that price point, it’s because we think the screen is too small to express the software.” And we cant agree more!

Apple has posted a record revenue of $20.34 billion in Q4 and have surpassed the RIM blackberry with 14.1 million iPhones sold in the same quarter. And Steve has claimed that they don’t see RIM catching up anytime soon and a lot of fireworks about Android aswell. You can listen to the Apple 14 earnings call on here.
