iPad users not App Crazy – Nielsen

Thats right. If your main intention in getting yourselves an iPad was to use all those awesome looking applications on a 10-inch display, you sir, are a rare breed.
This is because, according to the results of a recent survey conducted by Nielsen, not everyone is using the iPad the way you thought it might have been used by them. According to Nielsen as much as 32 percent of the people surveyed have never ever downloaded and installed an app on to the iPad! While that might be very disheartening to hear if you are a developer, the good thing is that the iPad is a pretty decent product -right out of the box. Also, many people just use the web browsing and mail functions of the iPad.

As many as 63% of the users have however purchased a paid application for the iPad. Only five percent of the users have just tried free applications. As expected, games topped the charts as the most downloaded apps from the App Store followed by Books, Music and shopping.

Another noticeable thing is that fact that iPad comprehensively beats the iPhone when it comes app usage, with the iPad leading in almost all app type – excluding News and Music.

Are you an iPad user? If yes, what do you use your iPad the most for?
