Budget-friendly MEElectronics SX-31 earphones (Review)

Music on the move can certainly make your journey appear shorter. For short journeys, you need really affordable earphones that entangle quickly and give you good quality output for boombastic numbers. MEELectronics provided us with white colored SX-31 noise cancelling earphones meant for bass lovers. With in-ear styling, the SX-31 came in tall tubular packaging. Just like those Sony and Panasonic earphones packaged in different colors that you’ll find at the different electronic super-stores.

Any music-enthusiast would be ready to spend maximum Rs. 500 or $12 on good entry level earphones. The SX-31 pair is perfect for those looking for white ‘iPhone-iPod like’ earphones. MEE’s SX-31 earphones indeed are meant for such folks seeking inexpensive earphones and that too in-ear with noise isolation to keep you focussed on the music. The SX-31 earphones pair weight mere 113.4 grams and have 1.2m long cord decent enough to stretch it till trouser’s pocket or backpack.

Here are the technical specifications of the SX-31 earphones:

– Driver: 10mm Dynamic Micro Speaker
– Frequency Response: 20-20,000Hz
– Sensitivity: 95dB
– Impedance: 16 ohms
– Connector: 3.5mm nickel plated straight connector
– Cable: 1.2m cord (4 ft)
– Maximum input: 10mW
– Accessories: 3 sets of soft silicon ear pads fit all ears (large, medium, small)

MEE’s SX-31 had been burned in already before I tested them so that did save around 20 hours of mine. Three different silicon earbuds makes it easy to adjust them nicely in different ear sizes. Using the regular medium one, I listened to different tracks for almost 5 hours at a stretch (of course, I was testing them).

Tracks from various genres of music like Pop, Hip Hop, Trance, Rock & Indian Bollywood music were chosen to be heard. These earphones gave best bass experience when volume was set betweem 75-85 percent. Any track higher to 90 percent sound was simply loud. Rock and Trance are the ideal genres for listening songs at around 85-90 percent volume and they will disconnect you to the noises around you.

Balanced details were audible when sound level was adjusted to mids and bit mid-high. Lower than that would still provide bit of bass but obviously you lose the details. However, the noise isolation offered makes the aural experience pleasant at any audio level.  Treble Since these headphones are meant for iPhone, iPod touch, MP3 players and similar devices including phones that offer up to 16 Ohm impedance.

Conclusion:

Looking for earphones at dirt cheap price? The pair of SX-31 is available at an affordable price of Rs. 400 which is seriously a steal for entry-level earphones offering amazing bass experience. In same price range you’ll fine different options for Sony, Philips and Creative. You’ll get Sony MDR 110LP headphones for Rs. 350 but they are open-air and can’t be rolled to be kept in your breast pocket of shirt. Well, the SX-31 can be rolled and nicely

Folks loving nice and distortion-less bass should seriously consider this in-ear pairs offering noise-isolation. At the end of the day, SX-31 earphones does stand out as value-for-money inexpensive earphones that are meant for rougher usage with phones, iPods, iPod touches and iPhones. MEE offers these earphones in Black, Pink, Green and White color with one year guarantee. These pairs will certain make your job difficult to find such a package for that price.
