Verizon CDMA iPhone Coming Tomorrow With Unlimited Data

Its been long since AT&T exercised its exclusive hold on the iPhone in US. The biggest carrier in the country Verizon is yet to get the iPhone love and has fought back well with hits like the Motorola Droid (remember the Droid Does campaigns?) Even the latest Android tablet and 4G Android devices coming out at CES were announced with Verizon. There is no doubt that Apple wants to take the iPhone to the masses and there is nothing better than getting it on Verizon that Apple can do.

Verizon is holding a press event in NY on 11th January and its a no brainer that this would be the iPhone announcement. Doing a announcement just days away form CES and on the other side of the country? No invite to Gizmodo 😛 and a few more pointers make it clear. Also given the fact that AT&T VP almost confirmed the thing with the following comment:

“The iPhone is built for speed, but that’s not what you get with a CDMA phone. I’m not sure iPhone users are ready for life in the slow lane.”

A few questions however in our mind. Will this be the iPhone 4 or some more advanced features? Will there be a new iPhone again in June/July for Verizon aswell? Is the antenna issue fixed in this build? Guess we will have to wait and watch! But what we are hearing and find it encouraging is the fact that the new iPhone on Verizon is expected to come with unlimited data plans, so much for AT&T trouble!
