One of the most irritating aspects of iOS currently is the notifications. While Android and Bada OS joined the race pretty late, they have this one thing quite sorted out. A popup to tell me network signal is lost? A tweet mention or low battery? isn’t the ideal experience in 2011. Yesterday, I had my cousin from Bangalore visiting us for a day and he finally got hands on it my iPad. While he was enjoying harbor master on the iPad, I was busy blogging and tweeting on my system, he was getting bugged by the twitter notifications every other minute on the iPad (whenever someone replied to any of my tweets). The game pauses, a video pauses … Your flow is just disrupted by these notifications on the iOS.
Just as I was completing this writuep on my iPad, it happened again (see screenshots).

There is something that Apple has to learn from Android for sure. Given the eye for detail that Apple has (see this) , there is something revolutionary that they should do for sure to redefine notifications on iOS. We would be waiting to see that on iOS 5.
