Did Apple just sell 2 million+ iPads in March? The iPad 1 sold 15 million units in 9 months last year and thats under 2 million a month with a global rollout. However the iPad 2 has just seen 1 week in UK (and that was some launch!) and has been out for 20 days in March for US (with a new Verizon version). So when we hear figures like 2.4 million to 2.6 million units going out in March alone, we know that this is significant bigger than the iPad 1. Looks like the competition is only helping Apple push out the tablet concept more widely.
And if Digitimes is correct, Apple would go on to ship as many as 4 million iPad 2’s a month this quarter. Thats 15 million iPads sold in 4 months, over 40 million iPad’s in 2011 alone. It sure is crazy. Its no more the netbooks vs the iPad 2, its the post PC ear!
