A couple of weeks ago we showed you a solution to ‘untrack’ yourself from the iOS’s location tracking ‘bug’. But now, two weeks after this bug was publicized and much criticized, Apple has kept its promise and has come up with an iOS update.  We had also reported a few days ago that Apple would be coming up with this update within two weeks.  The location tracking bug was widely criticized because an excessively large cache of sensitive local information is stored and backed up on iTunes even after the Location Services are turned off.

However, with the iOS 4.3.3 update, the cache size is reduced, and the location backed on iOS is now limited to 1 week and it is no more backed up on iTunes when you sync. If that wasn’t all, the cache is entirely deleted when you turn off the off tke location services. There are other minor bug fixes too with the update.

If you are the paranoid kind and fear that your location based data is being snooped upon, you might want to fire your iTunes and hit the update button.
