Last time around when Verizon exec spoke about the iPhone 5, it was revealed that the next iPhone would be a world phone. But there was no word on it being LTE or 3G nor any clue on when its arriving. But if we start putting the blocks together, we would get a firm picture. So here is what we know:
a) The iPhone 5th Gen is due sometime sooon. If not June/July, September is being said to be the launch month. But its due!
b) The next iPhone on Verizon would be a world phone and not just a CDMA device as the current Verizon iPhone4 is.
c) Apple isn’t getting LTE this year as the Qualcomm chip that fits the bill ins’t shipping till the end of the year.
Add to these we now have a word from Verizon claiming that they would get the next iPhone along with AT&T. The same man, Verizon’s CFO Fran Shammo has not confirmed that the iPhone 4S or 5 (however you refer to it) would be a world phone and would arrive on AT&T and Verizon Wireless together. Now this adds up to the iPhone 5 hype, but anyone with clues on the launch date?
We also wonder if the iPhone 5 launch date is being pused away from June / July due to the Japan Tsunami and Earthquake. While Apple during its conference all said things are in control, this might have been a sacrifice they made.
