MacDefender Malware Bypasses Apple Security Update 2011-003

Within hours of release, a new version of MacDefender malware mutates to bypass the Apple security update 2011-03. Several other variants of the MacDefender have been earlier spotted and fixed through a software update. But the frequent release of another version instantly after one security update from Apple is a matter of concern. This one has new name  ‘Mdinstall.pkg’ which has been modified to surpasses the Apple’s malware block code. Surprisingly, the time and date for the modification has been found to be 9:24AM Pacific time which is within the hours of public release of the security update from the company.

The security update 2011-003 from Apple continuously runs in the background and update itself with the latest information of the malware attacks. Though, the real aim is to kill the MacDefender malware as well as its variants. The security update maintains the list of all malicious softwares that may contain in a file. If you are somehow not interested in receiving these updates then you can disable them from system preferences. It will be interesting to see how fast Apple responds to these variants.
