Apple Calls Some Verizon iPad 2 Back, Duplicate MEID Cause Problems

It is now confirmed that Apple is recalling certain verizon iPad 2 which were experiencing issues in activating their account. According to AllThingsD, a Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID) has been duplicated in some of the verizon iPad 2 and Apple is aware of the problem caused. Due to which, the company has decided to call the verizon iPad 2 whose IMEI number had been listed with Apple Store employees.

The number of iPad 2 being recalled is very small. Earlier, there was a complain from customers that they were unable to activate their cellular data network. If they want to edit any piece of the information from their account, they were unable to do so. After sometime, a message had been displayed on their screen that the device is already activated. However, the problem was device specific, not software.

Apple gave the list of serial numbers to all employees working in the Apple Store. If any device arrives with this kind of problem and the serial no. matches with the list, it is instantly send back for the replacement. The whole procedure started from Monday through June 11.
