DevTeam has recently upgraded Redsn0w 0.9.8 to support iOS 5 Beta 4. As usual, thanks to Geohot’s limera1n bootrom exploit that can’t be killed by Apple until change in the hardware. However, the JailBreak will remain tethered till someone finds a patch to make it untethered. JailBroken iDevices users will not be able to update through enabled OTA update due to explicit check in /Applications. So, it is advised to either restore to iOS 5 Beta 4 manually from iTunes or restore to stock again.
iOS 5 Beta 4 JailBreak is similar to other devices where you need to point out iOS 5 Beta 4 in Redsn0w 0.9.8b4. Follow the instructions carefully and it will lead to a JailBroken device. Tethered JailBreak means that you need software again to reboot your device and let it function properly. Safari crashing and white cydia icon are the common problems which you may face if you wouldn’t follow the process. TinyUmbrella to support iOS 5 Beta 4 will be upgraded soon. Therefore, save your SHSH Blobs now.
