Samsung Galaxy SII Sells 5 Million Unit In 90 Days, Still To Reach US

Samsung Galaxy S2

Samsung is on a roll, its latest Android offering Galaxy SII is the fastest selling smartphone for the company. Samsung has announced that they have sold as many as 5 million units of the Galaxy SII since release. Thats less than 3 months for 5 million units. Samsung has the most powerful dual-Core Android device in Galaxy S2 and a 4.3″ SUPER AMOLED Plus display adds to the charm. The SGS2 is light weight and thickness or rather thinness is measured at just 8.49mm. Given that both LG Optimus 2x and HTC Sensation couldn’t match up to Galaxy SII in terms of performance and hardware specs, Samsung has a winner here.

The best part of Samsung’s sales figures is the fact that Galaxy S2 is yet to make its US debut. Samsung is believed to be negotiating with carriers across US to get a deal, but so far we only have news of a AT&T version with physical QWERTY and rumors of a Verizon debut before that. Given that US is the biggest market for smartphones, the 5 million figure might well grow several folds before the end of the year. Samsung has had a golden period with Apple deciding to delay its iPhone 5th gen launch from the usual June/July schedule.
