Okay, agreed that we have been consistently hearing rumors about the yet to be launched iPhone 4s / 5. But this piece of news has to be one of the most concrete in support of the iPhone 4s / 5 or both being launched next month. Reportedly, former Vice President and a current Apple board member has stated that Apple would be launching new iPhones next month.
Al Gore at the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit in South Africa was quoted as saying; “Not to mention the new iPhones coming out next month. That was a plug.” Now there is no information here as to the “iPhones” he is referring to here are two separate models or just any one of them. There was no clarification provided by Al Gore on the statement.
Based on the rumors doing the rounds about the iPhone 4s as well as the iPhone 5 one can easily assume that he might be referring to both the models rather than one of them. Apple has officially announced that they would be launching the iOS 5 software and its quite possible that they would be launching the hardware along with it on October 4 as indicated by All things D.
Interestingly, this is the first time that anyone that close to Apple has spoken out in public about the upcoming iPhone. Although, Apple’s policy restricts its employees to speak about their future products, Al Gore is a board member. It will be interesting to see if Apple reacts to the statement. Any which ways, we would soon know the truth with October 4 a few days away.
