Apple Reports: 10,00,000 iPhone 4S Pre-Orders On First Day

The iPhone 4S was revealed last week and pre-orders began on 7th October. We had heard of AT&T getting over 200,000 pre-orders in 12 hours, but Apple has now went official and given us overall figures for the first 24 hours. Apple has sold a million iPhone 4S units in the first 24 hours of the pre-orders opening. While Apple certainly won’t quote figures by comparing it to rivals like the Samsung Galaxy SII, they have let us know that the iPhone 4 managed 600,000 units in the first 24 hours.

We aren’t sure if 15 months later a 600,000 sales figure jumping up to 1,00,000 is good enough. The smartphone market is growing and so is the iPhone market. Apple reported that iPhone is growing 125% year on year. While a million on opening day is impressive for any smartphone, we aren’t very surprised when the iPhone 4S manages this. We would be close watching the quarter results of Apple and we are sure Apple would keep sending updates on sales, given that Samsung has advertised the SGS2 sales extensively.

Apple iPhone 4S

Apple has added a new 64GB version to the iPhone 4S one of the many upgrades when compared to the iPhone 4. While doubts about people upgrading from iPhone 4 to 4S remains, It is believed that a lot of people sticking to the 3GS would jump to the 4S before year end. We are looking forward to the 8MP camera that Apple has hyped up and the Siri assistant on the iPhone 4S.

Apple has promised its fastest roll-out every with the 4S. Currently US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK would get the iPhone 4S laster this week, however 22 more countries would get the 5th gen iPhone by October end. As many as 70 countries are expected to be selling the iPhone4S by year end.
