Well, it was quite expected since the introduction of Siri at iPhone 4S launch that developers would try their level best to port this amazing feature to previous generation devices. But it was also assumed that it wouldn’t be an easy task to accomplish. When we speak to Siri, it redirects what we have told it to the Apple server, recognizes the iPhone 4S hardware, cross check and reply to us. This is the main issue experienced by the developer Steven Troughton-Smith who tried porting Siri to iPhone 4.

Through the video where Siri has been demoed in iPhone 4, you can conclude that the feature looks sluggish. It is only due to the fact that GPU driver for iPhone 4 is needed and expectedly, Apple has removed it from the iPhone 4S binary cache. We would not call it an impossible development, but it would be pretty tough to port this on an unsupported device. Specially, when you don’t have essential things required to make it function properly. We will keep you updated once we get more information on the progress of its development.
