iTunes sync was the one feature in iOS where Apple lagged behind when compared to Android & Windows Phone 7. But with the launch of the new iOS5, awaited features like background & wireless syncing came along. However, there are still people who resist updating their iPhones to iOS5 due to the missing jailbreak and unlock. For them, cydia apps like Free Sync performs background syncing with much ease.

FreeSync is available on Cydia through Xsellize repository for free.  The app being a tweak doesnt have an icon. However you can turn it on or off from the settings menu. Another cool feature the tweak offers is that you can set your own custom wallpaper during sync if the app is disabled. There are lots of notification options which you can enable or disable from the settings app/freesync like undim screen, status bar icon, HUD, Pulsing bar, alerts, vibrate & play sound. Another good feature added in is that the app allows you disable apps like iPod, Appstore & Cydia during the sync.

You just have to install the app, connect it to iTunes and the syncing starts in the background automatically. We did not observe any lag in performance or syncing issues after installing the app which means that the app functions pretty smoothly. We would suggest this app to all iPhone users stuck on iOS 4. Install & enjoy background syncing on iOS4 like never before.
